THE CLUB IS OPEN !
* All concrete has been poured on all ranges.
* Please do not use the old wooden rifle tables. These tables are not as sturdy as the new concrete tables. Your shooting groups WILL NOT be as good when shot off of a wooden table.
* There is a lot of work yet to be done on the range. Improvements will continue over the next couple of months. You may shoot all that you want. Competitions will resume in September.

Aug. 23rd photos

Here is the new concrete on the 25 yard range. The concrete is 14 feet wide.
This view is looking east from the middle of the concrete slab.

Here is the view of the concrete on the 25 yard range looking west from the middle of the slab.

Here is a view of the 25 yard range concrete slab looking south into the shooting range area.
There is still construction debris on the range grounds. We will be organizing a range clean up event.

Here is the view (looking east) of the new shooting tables on the 100 yard range.
There are lots of tables. All concrete is dry and ready to use.
These tables will not shake when you are sighting in or going for group.

Here is a closer view of part of the 100 yard range shooting line.
Additional shade will come as new funds are collected.

This is the view looking downrange on the new 100 yard.
You simply set up your rifle and gear on the table.
Place your target directly ahead of you on one of the target holders.
Use one of the stools to shoot either right or left handed.

Here is the newly finished 200 yard shooting line. There are four tables.
Part of the wooden forms from the concrete pour remained when this photo was taken.

Here is the 200 yard range shooting line as seen from the front.

The 200 yard target holder is the black dash in the middle of the picture on the right.
The black dash on the left is a 100 yard target holder.
Also seen are some of the old wooden shooting benches which are to be removed.

The view of the 100 yard range.
There are seven sheets of 4 x 8 black sheeting to serve as target holders.
The range is slightly graded downwards from west to east, (right to left) to allow for rain water flow.
There is a drain pipe at the lowest grade to allow rain water to flow
out back to the water detention pond.
The two guys on the left are installing a 50 yard sight in target frame.

Here's a better view of the target frames on the 100 yard range.
You can see the drain pipe at the far end of the target line.

Here's a shot of the ten new concrete shooting tables on the 100 yard range.
The concrete for the table tops had not been poured when the photo was taken.

Target frames are up on the 200 yard range.
As promised there is also a 100 yard target holder that you can see on the left.
You can also see that the concrete base pad for the shooting tables had not been poured.
We expect this to take place the week of Aug. 17 - 21.

NEW FENCING !
We have had to install six foot hurricane fencing on the west and south borders of the range.
Above is the fence line on the south.
All this land was cactus, mesquite saplings and snakes about a month ago.

Here's a better shot of the fence line on the southern portion of the range.

Here's a look at the fence line on the west side of the range.
The property on the left used to be about 40 acres of brush.
The owner of that land has cleared it out.
Our new fence defines our property and makes a legal statement that we don't want trespassers.

Here we see the chain link fence being installed on the range property north of the firing lines.
Behind the vehicles you can see the piles of trees that were cleared from the adjacent property.

Here is the 25 yard range.
You can see the frames set to pour concrete for a very wide and stable pad.
The pad will be 14 feet from front to back.

Here is a better look at how the 25 yard range pad will be set.

Here you see the newly poured 100 yard range concrete pad.
This pad is also 14 feet from front to back.
There is lots of room for new shooting tables.

Here is the view of the 100 yard range concrete pad looking to the west.
Still to come are shooting tables and more shade.

Here is the 100 yard range concrete pad looking to the east.

Here you see the entire 100 yard range.
The concrete pad leaves a driving lane access on the west side.
The berms on each side are 10 feet tall. The bullet stop is 20 feet tall.
If you look at the bullet stop berm you will notice that the land seems to slope downward from the
right to the left. That is grading done on purpose to allow rain water to flow downrange
and to the left where the drain pipe will take the water back behind the berms
to the new water detention pond.

Here is a look downrange at the 200 yard range.
The concrete pad has not yet been poured.

This is a super wide picture taken from further back than 100 yards
just to show you the side berm on the right which divides the 100 yard range from the 200 yard range.

200 yard range.
This picture was taken about half way up the range to show you the side cut on the left.
The side cut allows rain water access to the rear drainage pond.

Rear drainage pond.
This is a super wide picture which has been pieced together from four different photos.
The perspective is distorted, but it illustrates the size of the drainage pond which will keep rain water out of our ranges.

The 20 foot high bullet stops will have a 4 foot flat top.

Looking into the new 200 yd range from the old wooden table. Looking into the 200 yd range from just right of the wooden table.
This sign used to be at the northern end of the side berm dividing the long range from the 100 yard range.
This whole area will be part of the new bigger 100 yard range.

ON THE LEFT: The front end loader takes dirt from the old side berm...
ON THE RIGHT: ..and dumps it to build the new side berm dividing the 100 and 200 yard ranges.

Here's a perspective of some of the work being done.
On the left of the photo you can see the width of the old 100 yard range.
Looking at the entire photo you can see the width of the new 100 yard range.
It will be wider with more shooting positions.
All new shooting tables will be concrete with a very solid base.
